The McNair Legacy Song
Words and Music by C.M.J. for EASE™ Music Group
Music Production by Damon Scruggs for DJ Production
Opening Monologue:
It’s funny how sometimes our lives often mirror that of our parents. Our legacy is not one of having a whole lot of money, riches, wealth and financial prosperity. Ours is a legacy of family and friends; and how the love and bond we share together has sustain us and brought us through the storm and rain, the hurt and pain; through sickness and death, from breathe to breadth. Yep! We’ve been discouraged, depressed, encouraged and refreshed.
We haven’t always been right, neither have we always been wrong. We’ve been misused, often misunderstood; mistreated, but still God’s been good. No we aren’t perfect, not by a long shot. We’ve had to deal with jealousy within and without. But yet we’re still here and God is still good.
Yep! Music is our legacy. Although sometimes it feels like a curse, burying our talents would be worse. No we’ve never had a #1 hit yet, our songs aren’t on the billboard charts yet. And they may never be, but that won’t taint our legacy. From Khemistry R&G and projects released in the late 80’s and 90’s to the Elder Charles McNair - the Gospel Champ, and his releases in the 70s. Somewhere in the process hundreds of thousands have been blessed. Love it or hate it, reward it or discard it, we have to continue creating, producing, performing, marketing, ministering, and creating again. So here’s another piece of McNair history, The McNair Legacy. Yep! It’s another song. Why don’t you listen up, why don’t you sing along.
The Song:
They were born in the same year 10 months apart. One in Alabama, one in the heart of the Delta (that’s Mississippi y’all). Two hearts on different path but God had another plan to make their legacy last. Entertaining in the nightclub at an early age they called him little Ray cause he coud really play. Along the way a little girl was born into this world (my big sister). She’s a diamond amongst pearls. Whatever you need he could sing it to please Lou Rawls, Fats Domino everybody knew man could GO. But it wouldn’t last news came his brother was fading fast. So he hopped a plane to Muskegon from New Jersey crying Lord have mercy. Little did he know the ball had already started to roll. There waiting from Tuskegee was a wife to have and to hold. Suddenly in a flash he saw his brother pass. He didn’t know what to do his family was going through sad and broken he gave his life to the Lord eyes wide opened. God here’s my heart, here’s my heart yes.
Three days, three nights she cried if he’s for me let it rain. One year later their lives would never be the same. They got married started a family of four boys no girls. She lived in a man’s world. She sent us off to high school in the East of St. Lou and on to high school in the city of the big T.U. (that’s Tuskegee University).
Then suddenly there was a tragedy we went from 6 to 5, 4 to 3. How could this happen to me? I thought we were God’s property! Somehow we had to move on; for years we mourned. Then CVT was born. Coli, Vic and Trey BKA Khemistry R&G we are the Principle of Unity. Now here we are today still on our way. Thanks to our SAVIOR’S GRACE! And now we want to say, THANK YOU JESUS AND...
Chorus:
Thank you momma, thank you dad
For the years of love, for the life we’ve led (together)
We wanna say thank you, Jesus, thank you Lord
For giving us each other!
